Congratulations! You’ve just created a website for your business. You figured out a great design with colors you like and your logo is one of the best you’ve seen. You’re excited to finally get your business running, but you’re unsure of what to do next. Of course, you know that you’ll need to keep up with your website maintenance making sure everything stays up to date, but you know there’s something else you need to be thinking about that’s just as important. Getting the word out about your business! If you don’t advertise, all of your efforts at putting together a beautiful website will go unnoticed. How will people find out about your services? Will you use social media? Word of mouth? What’s the best course of action? You need an SEO checklist!
Ultimately SEO will be your best friend. SEO stands for search engine optimization which basically means getting the most visitors to your site by making sure it appears high up on search engines. When you are looking for a service, you usually will google certain keywords to find just that. For example, if you were searching for a virtual assistant, you may google “how to hire a virtual assistant,” or “best virtual assistants.” Once you begin your search you find tons of websites with virtual assistants you can hire. While you may search through pages of results, most people only look at the first 3 pages that the search engines produce. For your business to actually be found by customers, you’ll want to be on those first three pages.
The list above is my SEO checklist. It gives several things you need to make sure of when digging deep into the SEO world and getting the most exposure for your business. Now you may be a bit intimidated looking at the list. You may be asking yourself how do I upload a sitemap? How do I use these WordPress plugins? Over the next several days, I will be creating an article about each item on my SEO checklist.
